In the video, A Vision of Students today no one speaks but, the message is very powerful. In the video there is a large class room full of students, and they hold up pieces of paper with information about their life as a student. Such as how they learn, what they do inside and outside of class, and what they learn for the assignments that they are assigned. The truth is that many students don’t even read their textbooks, and the students that do read the books read and write significantly more on the internet.
A student in the video holds up a sign that says only 26% of the reading that are assigned to her are relevant to her life. In my opinion it is very important for any reading that is assigned to a student to be relevant to their life in one way or another because it will catch their attention more and they will absorb more information because they can relate to the subject. As a student, I can relate to the majority of the issues the students face on the video. For example the time I spend in class is significantly less than all of the time that I spend watching TV, using the internet or my cell phone. It is easy to get distracted from school especially with all of the things that are going in my life.
